Clementa Cazan German

CLEMENTA CAZAN GERMAN was born in the beautiful city of Brasov, in the Transylvanian Carpathian Mountains of Romania. She started her music education at 6 years old when she was accepted at the "Gheorghe Dima" School of Music in her home town.
 
At only 9 years old she won the 1st National Price at the prestigious "Ciprian Porumbescu" Competition and also debuted in her first solo piano recital. Under the baton of the famous conductor Ilarion Ionescu Galati she performed for the first time as soloist at only 12 years old with the Gheorghe Dima Philharmonic, solo performance which marked the start of her career as a solo pianist.
 
Even when still in middle school she won many national competitions and together with her two brothers: Claudius, violinist and Laurentius, cellist were featured as a trio at the George Enescu international Music Festival on the Romanian radio and television. She and her brothers traveled extensively throughout Romania and performed on the national radio and television.
 
At the age of 14 she was one of the only three candidates to be accepted at the "George Enescu" Music Academy in Bucharest. In 1983 together with her family she immigrated to the United States and in 1984 she was accepted as a full scholarship student at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
 
While at Juilliard she won the Worcester Symphony Young Musicians Competition, and was a finalist in the Beethoven Concerto Competition. She was offered a Teaching Fellowship with the Piano Minor Department and in the Chopin/Beethoven Seminars. She traveled extensively as a soloist and with her family trio throughout Europe, Canada, United States and the Caribbean Islands.
 
She graduated with a Masters Degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School in 1990 and founded New Tempo Music Studio where she currently teaches piano, music theory, voice and chamber music. She was also the Music Director of the First Presbyterian Church of Flushing New York and Old Westbury SDA Church for 30 years until moving to Kalispell in July.
Clementa was awarded many teaching distinctions including “Teaching Diploma with Multiple Students Winners” from Queens College in New York and MTNA Washington DC ​
